"Breaking Boundaries" - Group Exhibition of Biomaterials.

Breaking Boundaries is an exhibition of sculptures created from biomaterials for Kilkenny Science Week, which is funded by Science Foundation Ireland and Kilkenny County Council and run by South East Technological University through Calmast.

This exhibition Breaking Boundaries displays sculptures created from biomaterials or bioplastic by artist/curator Mary Doyle Burke. They are part of sculptures in a group show with other invited artists Ann Marie Kirwan, Marco Di Sante, and Ursula Meehan. All 3 of these Irish artists have created some form of biomaterials in their practices recently and created sculptures from these biomaterials.

The project opened yesterday, and the interaction and curiosity of the public were heartwarming. There were so many questions from the young generation about how the biomaterials were made, and they were fascinated with the process and what they could be used for. It was so joyous to engage with them and answer their curiosities.

So if you are around this week, do pop in and see how art and science go hand in hand.

OPEN: Every Tue to Sunday 11am to 5pm.

If you are a local school, please contact us and we can arrange a tour of the work.

Happy Science Week!
